Hey! I'm Victoria. I'm a broadcast journalist in my senior year of high school in Lake Orion, MI who is committed to University of Michigan. I am consistently a vital part of my school's newscast "LO-AM" as a reporter and the sole producer. As a member of Television Production Workshop (TPW), I create my work in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, both of which I'm proficient in. As a producer, I bear the responsibility of building the show up from the ground: I use NewTek software to import stories and NewBlue Titler Live to create graphics. I do my best to create my best every single day.

Broadcast Journalism
Broadcast journalism is at the head of what I do everyday in TPW. My favorite aspect of the day is always walking into class and being able to put on a great show and create great stories. I intend to continue this activity at the University of Michigan because delivering information to people will never become old or useless. There is still a lot for me to learn in this field, and I'm excited for that journey.

Election Day
In this story, I take an introspective look at Lake Orion's local elections, primaries, and polls in February 2024. This story was interesting because I was forced to leave the usual circle of staff members and students which I usually interview. I also remember it proved particularly difficult to get b-roll: There were very specific rules in the voting room about what you could and couldn't film.

Marching Band Invitationals
These invitationals hosted at Lake Orion High School were the band's first competition of the year. Covering their performance here allowed for me to make connections with both the band directors and befriend some members of the band. After that night, I went on to cover almost all of the marching band's competitions and attend a number of their rehearsals for footage. Throughout my entire high school journalist career, the marching band has probably been my favorite topic to cover. I'm always enthralled by the amount of work they put into their shows, and during every interview it is incredibly clear how much dedication they have for their craft.
Figure Skating Competition
When I attended my first figure skating competition of the year, the first thing my skater interviewee did was thank me for showing up. According to him, figure skating usually gets neglected by our school's newscast. I never understood why that was the case: It's a very beautiful and interesting sport. This specific story is from halfway through their season and halfway through my coverage of each of their meets. I like this story because I don't usually cover sports, and it's unique. Additionally, the skater I interviewed here, Josh Snyder, is a very talented athlete who intends to attend the Olympics, but also very humble and easy to interview.

Cat Cafe
We have a segment on LO-AM called "LODown" where we recommend places, events, and things to do over the weekend. On this week's segment, I take a look at a local cat cafe who has taken a unique approach to pet adoption. After this story aired, I remember a ton of people telling me they were going to check out the cat cafe, and I remember seeing a number of Instagram posts and stories from the cafe. This is one of the main examples I think of whenever I think of broadcast journalism.
Video, Film & Leadership
Creating the items in this section is what I love about TPW the most. I love editing, creating films, and directing shows because I get to show off my talents, have a ton of fun, and even earn some money for doing it.
